BIG DATA

You have probably heard of Hans Rosling and maybe even seen some of his amazing presentations on TED http://www.ted.com/speakers/hans_rosling.html
His Gapminder website http://www.gapminder.org/ has a lot of fantastic resources to allow you to analyse some very interesting data sets using the same visualisation tools he uses in his presentations.
The technology behind the visualisations, Trendalizer, was bought by Google in 2007 and since then they have launched Motion Chart https://developers.google.com/chart/interactive/docs/gallery/motionchart#Loading  which will  let you make charts from your own data.
You can  code your own charts at the Google code playground.
https://code.google.com/apis/ajax/playground/?type=visualization#motion_chart
Google public data explorer http://www.google.com/publicdata/directory allows you to tap into a wide range of data and visualise it using the same technology.
Using any of these tools you could even create your own amazing presentations in the style of Hans Rosling although you may not be able to match his sword swallowing skills…..
